Training with your carry firearm shooting from a stationary bench and not drawing from your holster is NOT training with your carry firearm. Shooting bullseyes from a stationary position is not training to defend yourself.
How you SHOULD be training is working from a holster, under pressure, shooting at CCW qualifying targets, making defensive and tactical reloads, clearing malfunctions quickly and adding movement as if in a real-life situation where you may need to withdraw to cover.
How quickly can you draw your firearm with a solid grip and clear sight picture to get you on the target fast. How quickly can you put two shots on center mass and one to the head? What are your split times between shots in a THREAT situation?
The Range Rules LLC monthly CCW Shoot From the Holster class gives you the opportunity to practice these skills. The class falls on various weekend dates every month on the North Range at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod and Gun Club. Bring an outside-the-waistband holster, 300 rounds of ammunition, water, your carry firearms, plenty of magazines and dress appropriately for the weather. Classes may be moved if inclement weather makes the range too muddy. The cost for the two-hour training time is $100.00. Training starts at 10:00am.
